My Biography
My name is R. Anthony Edgren. This is a short biography of myself. Thank you for taking your time to read it. I was born in San Francisco, California and am a second generation Californian.
My grandparents immigrated to the United States from Sweden and Italy (my father’s side) and Croatia (my mother’s side). I have one brother who is married and has children.
My physical features are: six foot, one inch tall, 210 lbs. Olive completion with brown eyes and hair.
I had a wonderful childhood being raised in the San Francisco bay area, specifically the cities of Palo Alto and San Jose. The San Francisco area is one of five in the world with a mild Mediterranean climate. My childhood memories are filled with camping adventures, fishing baseball games, trips to Disneyland and spending weeks at our beautiful Lake Tahoe or local beach areas.
This area has grown significantly since my childhood. Often referred to as “silicon valley”, it is the hub for most hi tech development and research in the world.
Institutions like Stanford University, California State University at Berkeley, the Stanford Linear Accelerator, Stanford Research Institute, the Hoover Institute, and the Lawrence Livermore Lab, have all contributed to building this atmosphere where some of the most famous firms were started or have a large presence, including Yahoo, Hewlett Packard, Apple Computer, Oracle, Microsoft, IBM, Dell and Compaq to name a few.
Of course this area is just not known for its science. California itself is a very unique state. By itself, its economy ranks sixth in the world among nations. California has beautiful beaches, the magnificent Pacific ocean coastline, mountains, deserts, a huge wine industry, Hollywood, Yosemite national park, pristine Lake Tahoe, and many more wonderful spots and things to do. All this has contributed to molding me over the years and my outlook on life.
I have always had many different interests. As a young man I played guitar in a rock band. I still enjoy playing the guitar and piano. I also enjoy painting and drawing. My favorite participation sports are swimming (I used to be competitive swimmer and water polo player in college). I also enjoy a fun game of American football with friends at times. I enjoy running, tennis, working out at the gym, and both water and snow skiing. Probably my most favorite sport is ocean snorkeling and diving, especially in tropic areas. I love the undersea world; to me it is very fascinating. I also enjoy boating on our large San Francisco Bay.
Another interest I have is traveling. I have traveled and stayed at lengths of time throughout South America enjoying other cultures and views. I have taken many vacations to Hawaii and the Caribbean. As of this writing I have been to Russia once and Ukraine several times.
My parents have always encouraged us to meet other people and cultures. This started at an early age. Eventually I found myself living in college with Argentines and over the years having roommates from France, Spain, Latvia, China and India. My religious background is Catholic.
I graduated from San Jose State University with a degree in journalism. My current business is in real state and property development. Over the years, along with my family, I have invested in real estate which has been a lot of work, but very fruitful. These investments produce a comfortable income for me. I own several buildings and have built a suitable financial base.
My character has changed over the years. In my twenties, I did not have much desire to be married. Sometimes I regret this, but I felt at this age, unlike many of my peers, I wanted to experience the world before having a wife and family. Plus, I was very busy building my career. Most people describe me as creative, honest, strong on many issues and circumstances, kind, thoughtful, patient, intelligent, generous, with a good sense of humor. I have also been described as very romantic.
I feel the lady I have a relationship with should be mature enough to realize that life should be enjoyed, be it a night at the cinema, at a picnic, going out dancing on a Saturday night, having breakfast together, or a vacation to a tropic island. I feel there are enough problems and challenges in life, that a relationship should not be one. We as people have made love so complicated, where I feel it should come just naturally.
So that is a brief sketch of myself and I hope you have read enough to be interested in getting to know me further. I think there is someone out there for each of us, but sometimes it takes some time and effort to meet that person you would want to share a lifetime with. Should you find you are not attracted to me, or I to you, I wish you all the fortune in finding a wonderful lifetime mate.
